Taos County Senior Center

Taos county seniors were uncomfortably squeezed into an old inadequate space that had been cobbled together over the years.

Thanks to the vision and persistence of Senior Center Director Mike Trujillo, a plan for a new larger modern facility was on the table.

Taos County also had another important need.  Secure and accessible and climate- controlled storage for voting machines.

So, instead of incurring the cost and time of hiring an independent Architect and the likely disappointment of an over-budget design, they turned to our integrated design-build approach.

Our Design-Build team, consisting of Architects/Engineers, and Construction professionals immediately went to work assessing and planning both the new senior center and secure voting machine storage.

Because the available project funding was limited, the Design-Build team decided to combine the two (2) functions under one roof. By specifying a pre-engineered metal building to maximize building life, and reduce cost.

The Design-Build project was designed and constructed in about 12 months and delivered through our CES Job Order Contract.  The project was phased to accommodate the multi-year budget and the immediate need for secure storage.

Thanks to the support and participation of the Taos County Manager, County Construction Manager and Senior Services personnel, the multi-function building project was a success, and currently in-use.
